Hello there, I am Bethany Svoboda.

I am currently a trained birth doula. I attended the DONA International Approved Virtual Birth Doula Workshop, as well as enrolled in the Virtual Introduction to Childbirth Class for Doulas and Virtual Breastfeeding for Doulas Class.

I live in Lincoln, Nebraska, and will provide services in Lincoln, Omaha, and many other small towns in the area. I do have a Bachelors of Science in English Education, with an ESL Endorsement. This allows me to use my ability to teach to educate others on the significance of having a doula.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Jonathan! We have two sweet dogs, Sadie and Ellie.

Some fun facts about me:

  • I have a BIG passion for traveling, exploring new places, taking long walks with Jonathan and our dogs, running, biking, hiking…ok, most things outdoors.

  • I enjoy a good cooperative board game.

  • The Office, Parks And Recreation, and Brooklyn Nine Nine are three of my favorite shows.

  • In my free time, I enjoy house renovations, gardening, crocheting, and sewing.

  • I have traveled to 34 states and visited 12 different countries.

  • I LOVE ice cream - even though I am lactose intolerant.

My desire to become a doula

I have always found birth to be one of the greatest miracles that has ever been created. To know that something that starts so small can become such a profound part of someone’s life is wonderful. I got to see this first hand, as I grew up on a llama and alpaca ranch. At first, I was a tad squeamish when one of our animals was giving birth, but a big part of me was curious…especially with the placenta. These experiences allowed me to see how much love (even an animal) can immediately foster between a mom and their child.

Fast forward many years, I now have friends who are giving birth and gracing me with their birth stories. I LOVE getting to hear them, being the listening ear that allows them to recount and process what they went through. It made me realize that this is what I want to do - support mothers and families in their birthing experience.

I finally get to be able to use my passion for birth to help educate and support families in this exciting season of their lives! I feel truly honored to be able to walk…or sit, stand, dance, or rock, beside moms and their partners while they get to navigate such an intimate experience together. Thank you for letting me help support you through this!
